SIKESTON, Mo. -- An accident Wednesday morning on Interstate 55, two miles south of Sikeston, led to nearly two and a half hours of delay for many travelers.

The accident occurred when a driver pulling a mobile home stopped on the shoulder of the northbound lane.

While the driver was underneath the vehicle making repairs, a semi-truck driven by Robert Evans of Hornlake, Miss., struck the rear of the mobile home.

Evan's truck then crossed the median coming to rest on the southbound shoulder and caught fire.

One trailer and the cab of the truck burned completely.

Donald Henley of Humbolt, Tenn., a passenger in the semi-truck, received moderate injuries. He was taken to the Missouri Delta Medical Center. Nobody else was injured in the accident.

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety, Miner Fire Department and Morehouse Fire Department all aided in putting out the fire which helped cause the long delays for travelers.
