ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. is expanding its board of directors by one member with the election of President and CEO Virginia McDowell.

The casino operator said Wednesday that McDowell's appointment was effective last Thursday. With McDowell's addition, Isle of Capri's board now has 11 members, according to CapitalIQ.

McDowell started at Isle of Capri in 2007 as president and chief operating officer. She became CEO in April 2011, succeeding James B. Perry, who retired. Perry serves as executive chairman.

Isle of Capri, which is based in St. Louis, has 15 casino properties. It owns and runs casinos in Biloxi, Lula, Natchez and Vicksburg, Miss.; Lake Charles, La.; Bettendorf, Davenport, Marquette and Waterloo, Iowa; Boonville, Caruthersville and Kansas City, Mo.; two casinos in Black Hawk, Colo., and a casino and harness track in Pompano Beach, Fla. The company also has a casino under construction in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Isle of Capri's stock shed 23 cents, or 3.3 percent, to $6.69 in afternoon trading. The shares have traded between $3.90 and $9.89 over the past year.
