A scheduled power outage necessary to make repairs to Jackson's transmission line early Sunday went according to plan, says Don Schuette, the city's electric utility supervisor.

The outage, which mostly affected businesses and residents on the south and west part of the city, started at 1 p.m. Sunday and ended at 1:36 a.m. During the outage, a 10-person city crew replaced switches and rotted poles near the intersection of Highway 34/72 and Highway 25.

Schuette said none of the 24-hour businesses affected reported any problems. Twenty-nine residents called about the outage. "I guess they were uninformed about it," he said.

The city electrical system now is operating as it should, Schuette said.

"There shouldn't be anymore scheduled power outages."
