JACKSON -- A Jackson man suffered moderate injuries after hitting a tree in the 2200 block of Bainbridge Road Monday.

The man, Robert J. Morton, 61, of 101 E. Adams, was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where he was listed in satisfactory condition Monday night.

Police said Morton may have blacked out before hitting the tree about 10:35 a.m. An extrication crew from Cape Girardeau went to the scene, but Morton was freed from his truck before the crew arrived.
