Jackson will host its seventh annual Customer Appreciation Day at the recycling center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday as a way of saying thank you to people who participate in Jackson's recycling program. From 9 a.m. to noon M&J Shredding LLC will also provide shredding services at the event.

Mayor Barbara Lohr and other city officials will be at the center Saturday to greet customers and to assist in unloading recyclables. Refreshments will be provided for all customers bringing recyclables to the center, and there will be a drawing for free weekly recycling collection service for the remainder of the year. The contest is open to Jackson residents but does not include businesses.

Recyclables collected at the center include cardboard, newspaper, magazines, office paper, junk mail, Styrofoam, grocery bags, glass (clear, green and brown), all plastic containers, aluminum, cans (tin and steel) and electronic waste. More information about the Jackson Recycling Center and items that are accepted is available by calling 243-5691.
