JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Capital city voters will decide whether to revoke a municipal ordinance banning casino boats.

The Jefferson City Council has voted 6-4 to place the resolution on the April ballot.

The move comes after public forums dominated by casino critics and more than a decade after voters approved the gambling ban. The prohibition was created after plans for a casino boat fell through.

Council member Kevin Brown sponsored the resolution. He says he's not trying to lure a casino boat but wants to allow residents to decide if one can come.

Critics say gambling shouldn't be allowed into the city.
