After a year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, Jackson's annual Independence Day activities commenced in and around City Park. It began with the 5K Walk/Run and Children's Fun Run at 7:04 a.m. with over 300 runners and walkers that started and ended at Healthpoint Fitness. The mud volleyball began throughout the morning into the afternoon. Players stumbled, splashed and dove into the mud. Not too far from the courts, the car show commenced with unique vehicles new and old on display throughout the day. Food stands and Beer Garden also provided a wide array of drink and food - mostly an americana fair of hamburgers, hot dogs, fried foods, lemonade, sweet tea and more. Those interested in seeing things from above could also book a short helicopter ride over the Jackson area that took off and landed on a softball field.
