Sgt. Tony Sanders, a police spokesman, said the man, whose name was not released, was shot Saturday night after a neighbor called police. The neighbor told police that the man had been acting strangely for several days, according to a news release.

The officers went looking for the man and found him at an apartment, Sanders said.

According to police, the man had a machete in his hands and moved toward the officers, who then shot him.

Sanders did not say how many officers were involved in the shooting. They were placed on administrative leave, and an investigation is ongoing.
