KBSI-TV's transmitter caused the station to go off the air for 10 hours Monday and one on Tuesday, but the problems should be fixed soon, the station's general manager, Steve Engles, said.

About 450 gallons of water run through the transmitter to keep it cool. Early Monday morning, a crack developed in the cooling system, allowing water to fall on the electrical system.

The entire transmitter shorted out, and KBSI was off the air from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Tuesday, another problem involving the transmitter's radiator caused the station to go off the air from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It has been on steadily ever since.

Engles said the part needed to repair the transmitter should be in Friday. KBSI will go off the air at midnight Sunday instead of 2 a.m. Monday to allow for repairs before the station goes back on the air Monday morning.
