BENTON -- Jennifer Felter, 17, has been selected to attend Girls State June 14 to 20 on the campus of William Woods College in Fulton.

Felter is the daughter of John and Janet Felter of Route 1 Benton. She will be a senior at Thomas W. Kelley High School this year.

She is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary 369.

Her school activities include: Beta club, SADD, cheerleader, vice president of the FFA, FHA, and student council. She is also the youth representative on the St. Denis parish council. She attended the Hugh O'Brian leadership seminar.

Girls State provides participants practical training in government. All girls may vote and are eligible to hold office. City, county and state governments are established following the basic laws of the State of Missouri.

About 600 girls from throughout Missouri will participate in this 51st session.
