KENNETT, Mo. — Police say a driver purposely rammed a vehicle twice on Riggs Street in Kennett, killing two people.
The dead are Aaron Campbell, 25, and Heather Hampton Carter, 26, both of Kennett.
The driver, Willie Joshua Carter, 25, of Kennett faces two counts of second-degree murder, according to Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Jeff McCormick. Kennett Police Department Capt. Tim Trowbridge said Saturday Carter was being held in Craighead County, Arkansas, awaiting extradition to Missouri.
According to Kennett Police, a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Carter intentionally struck a silver Dodge Durango parked behind Manac Trailers on Riggs Street about 12:40 p.m. Friday. Police said Carter left the scene and returned. The two victims were standing near the wrecked vehicle.
Officers said Carter purposely drove into the Durango a second time, mortally injuring both victims. Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene, and Heather Carter was transported by air to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, where she died.
