Howard Meagle, general manager for KFVS-TV, is transferring to Memphis, Tenn. with Raycom Media, Inc.

Jeff Rosser, group vice president, television for Raycom Media, headquartered at Montgomery, Ala., confirmed late Thursday that Meagle would join WMC-TV, a NBC affiliate at Memphis.

Meagle will join a larger television market, in basically the same position, noted Rosser.

WMC-5 is the largest TV station in the Memphis area, serving 44 counties in Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Missouri. The station broadcasts more than 25 hours of news programming each week.

"Meagle will start here in mid-January," said Rosser. "We hope to name a successor to Meagle by then." Meagle, who has worked in radio and television about 30 years, worked with the AFLAC Group before it sold to Raycom in 1997.

He worked at KFVS during the mid-1980s, and returned to the station in 1991.

Raycom Media owns more than 35 broadcast stations throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
