The national coordinator of SHARE, a support group for parents who have lost an infant, will be the guest speaker for the local chapter's 10th anniversary observation Tuesday.

Cathy Lammert a nurse from St. Charles will speak at 7:30 p.m. in Classroom A of the Regional Cancer Center at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

The local SHARE was organized in 1985 by Linda Logan, Gayle Unverferth, both nurses in Southeast Missouri Hospitals obstetrics department, and their former supervisor Erica McBride.

The group is for parents who have experienced the death of an infant through miscarriage, stillbirth or early infant death.

The group provides support toward positive resolution of grief experienced at and following the death of an infant. Members talk about experiences, thoughts and feelings.

Guest speaker Lammert and her husband are the parents of five children, one of whom died in 1982 at the age of 4 days. Shortly after that Lammert attended a national SHARE convention. She founded the first SHARE group in St. Louis in 1984 and since that time has become a professional speaker on bereavement. In 1990, she founded the SHARE group at St. Charles.

Lammert also developed training programs for SHARE care givers and has served as chairman of the national SHARE care giver conference. Logan and Unverferth frequently serve as faculty members for the national conference.

The local group meets the second Thursday of each month at Southeast. For more information, contact Logan or Unverferth at 651-5560.

In addition to the support group, a SHARE memorial area was donated by Cape Girardeau County Memorial Park Cemetery for parents who have lost their child at Southeast before the 20th week of pregnancy. The memorial site is designated "Littlest Angels" and is offered at no charge to parents.
