Missouri Treasurer Bob Holden and representatives from SEMO Banking Center visited Washington and Clippard elementary schools Wednesday to support the Dollar$ and $ense Bank-at-School program. This is the second year the bank has sponsored the program with fifth-graders in the schools.
The program works by giving young people classroom lessons and practical hands-on experience in handling and saving money. Each student had the opportunity to open a savings account and make deposits during the bank's visits to the schools. The accounts are not assessed any service charges and will earn interest. Students also receive statements like other bank customers.
