Mystery writer Michael Kahn is the guest speaker for the Cape Girardeau Public Library Foundation's fall fund-raiser. Tickets are available.

Kahn will give a free presentation at the library from 4 to 5 p.m. Oct. 10. He will present a light-hearted autobiographical talk on how a full-time lawyer and father of five finds time to write novels.

Later in the evening, Kahn will travel with group of would-be sleuths and help solve a mystery aboard the St. Louis Iron Mountain Railroad. Tickets for the mystery train dinner tour are $50 and available through Oct. 1.

Kahn is the author of "Sheer Gall," "Due Diligence," "Firm Ambitions," and two other suspense novels starring savvy St. Louis trial lawyer Rachel Gold, who has been described by Bookends magazine as "a heroine for the '90s."

Kahn is a trial attorney with Stinson, Mag and Fizzell. He is also an adjunct professor of media law at Webster University.

The library foundation uses money raised at annual events to help fund the library's Summer Reading Club and to purchase computers and other equipment.
