Tony Baker, Dean Bucher, Angie Schwab and Ryan Mangells of the Jackson High School FBLA have returned from the FBLA National Leadership Conference held July 5-8 in Orlando, Fla.

Bucher was there to compete for Mr. Future Business Leader, Schwab was there to compete in the local chapter annual business report competition and Mangells was there to compete in the information processing concepts competition. Baker attended the conference because he is the president elect of the local chapter and it was a great learning experience.

Bucher placed 5th in his competition that consisted of a written test that included questions about history, business, economics, computers and FBLA concepts and an oral interview that lasted 10 minutes. His composite score placed him in the top 15 and another interview was given and Bucher finished 5th in the nation.

Schwab finished 9th in the nation with her local chapter annual business report. The report is a synopsis of what the chapter accomplished throughout the year.

Mangells did not qualify for placement on the national level in information processing concepts, but he received quite a learning experience from the trip.

Erica Foust qualified in accounting, but did not attend the national conference.

The students traveled to Orlando with their adviser, Kathy Hecht and her family. They arrived in Florida on July 3 and left July 10.

They stayed at the Walt Disney World Resort and when they weren't going to seminars they spent their time enjoying the park.

The students paid for the trip themselves.

Jackson's chapter is the second largest chapter with 191 members in the North Central Region. The nation is broken into five different regions.
