Representatives from community organizations, clubs and businesses in Scott City and Jackson are needed to participate in this year's YELL for Newspapers campaign.
Luncheons are planned next week to provide information about the event and how people can get involved, said Kim McDowell, YELL committee chairman for the Area Wide United Way.
The Jackson meeting is scheduled Tuesday at noon at Delmonico's. Val Tuschhoff will be one of the Jackson coordinators.
The Scott City meeting is planned Thursday at The Runway Restaurant at Cape Girardeau Municipal Airport at noon.
YELL for Newspapers is scheduled Sept. 13. Members of civic groups will sell special edition Southeast Missourian newspapers on street corners in Cape Girardeau, Jackson and Scott City. Comic books, contests, instant prizes and coupons are included in each newspaper.
Money raised through YELL goes to local literacy projects. Sales from each community will be designated for projects in that community.
The luncheon is sponsored by the Southeast Missourian and the Area Wide United Way. Those interested in attending should contact the United Way office at 334-9634.
