Jackson Police arrested a man accused of robbing a gas station using a BB gun at about 5 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

The Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged Jacob L. Cooper, 28, of Jackson with first-degree robbery. His bond was set at $75,000 cash or surety.

Cooper, wearing a mask, forced an employee of Casey's General Store, 920 W. Independence St., to allow him inside as the employee opened the store, according to a news release.

He then waited for another employee to arrive so he could gain access to the safe, the release stated. The employees thought Cooper had a gun and a holster, according to the release.

Cooper took an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise from the store and fled on foot, the release stated.

Investigators found items from the robbery at Cooper's residence, along with a BB pistol that looks like a firearm, according to the release.
