A man who fell asleep on a stranger's couch in Scott City while drunk was cited with trespassing Friday. Brandon S. Czik, 22, of Scott City, was found asleep on the couch around 5 a.m. Thursday, according to police chief Don Cobb. He was arrested and later charged in a municipal summons with misdemeanor trespassing, the chief said. The man, who lives on the same block as the home in which he was found, could not remember how he came to be there. According to Cobb, the man was "flat, blasted and tore-down" drunk, and took until late morning to sober up.

Eight men arrested in motorcycle theft case

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Eight men were arrested this week in connection to $35,000 worth of stolen motorcycles and four-wheelers. The Southeast Missouri Major Case Squad was activated Tuesday night following the break-in and motorcycle thefts from a Sikeston bike store, a release from the Sikeston Department of Public Safety said. Three four-wheelers had previously been stolen over the Memorial Day weekend in Miner, Mo. Five men were arrested for the thefts, one was arrested for possessing the stolen vehicles and another for brokering the deal, according to the release. A Scott County man was also arrested during the course of the investigation when linked to a separate theft of a tractor out of Miner.

Police arrest woman for prostitution Friday

A woman was arrested Friday morning for prostitution in Cape Girardeau. The 54-year-old woman flagged down a man who was pulling over his car to go into a business near the corner of Good Hope and Frederick streets, according to police Sgt. Barry Hovis. She asked the man if he wanted a date, and he said no. The woman then propositioned the man, and he said he would be right back, Hovis said. Police were called to the scene by the man and the prostitute was arrested. As of Friday night, she was in jail pending charges, Hovis said.
