PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- Roy Jerrolds, 60, was found dead inside a fire-engulfed residence late Thursday on T Highway in Pemiscot County with a gunshot wound to the head, Pemiscot County coroner Jim Brimhall said.

Just after 9 p.m. Thursday, firefighters were called to the Pemiscot County residence on T Highway near Portageville to battle a house fire.

Law enforcement officers are investigating the case as arson and a homicide, the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department said.

Brimhall said an autopsy was conducted Friday in Farmington. It could take up to three weeks before results are available, he said.
