A Cape Girardeau man was admitted to Southeast Missouri Hospital Thursday after his bicycle was struck by a vehicle.

Edward Lee Dickerson, 26, of 912 Jefferson St., was hospitalized Thursday night after the accident at William and Benton.

Dickerson was riding his bicycle westbound on William Street when he turned left onto Benton and into the path of a vehicle driven by Thomas Taylor of Metropolis, Ill.

Taylor's vehicle was eastbound on William when it struck Dickerson's bicycle.

Dickerson, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered injuries to the hip, knee, left arm and head, said Cpl. Kevin Orr of the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Taylor was cited for no proof of insurance, Orr said. The investigation of the accident is continuing.
