ST. LOUIS -- Raise your glass and celebrate. A glass of tap water, that is.
The U.S. Conference of Mayors decided Monday that St. Louis has the best-tasting city water in the nation.
St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay's office said more than 90 U.S. cities submitted tap water to be judged on taste, clarity and aroma for a competition.
The Conference of Mayors reduced the field to 15. Celebrity judges performed a blind taste test, and then hundreds of mayors chose from among five finalists.
St. Louis came out on top, besting Colorado Springs, Colo.; Long Beach and Anaheim in California, and Toledo, Ohio. The city won a $15,000 prize.
