The Missouri Association for Social Welfare will hold a seminar on Medicaid Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Osage Community Centre. The group, in a release, said that Medicaid is Missouri's major health insurance program for the poor, a major source of long-term care for the elderly and disabled residents, and the state's largest funding source for nursing home care. There will be speakers and an informational panel, which will report the impact of the proposed Medicaid cuts to consumers and on the state's economy. Speakers include Jennifer Hill, director of health policy, from the Missouri Budget Project in St. Louis; and Sharon Feltman, Access Project director, from Missouri Association for Social Welfare in Jefferson City. Local speakers will also attend and answer questions. The event is free to the public.

Old Town Cape moving meeting due to fire

In light of the recent fire that severely damaged Bella Italia in downtown Cape Girardeau, Old Town Cape has decided to hold its annual dinner at First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall, according to executive director Tim Arbeiter. The social hour will be at 6 p.m., with the dinner at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Jeremi Griggs, director of client services for Northstar Destinations Strategies Inc.
