JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Swimming season is returning, and most beaches in Missouri state parks are open for Memorial Day weekend.

The Department of Natural Resources reported two beaches will remain closed for opening weekend. The day-use beach at Harry S. Truman State Park will be closed after a test showed high bacteria. The beach at Lake Wappapello State Park In Southeast Missouri will be closed because of flooding.

The beach at Lake Boutin in Trail of Tears State Park was set to open Friday after being closed off-and-on since 2008.

State park officials weekly test the water at swimming beaches during the swimming season.
