A Kansas City gang member wanted on murder and kidnapping charges was arrested Wednesday through a joint effort by FBI agents and Cape Girardeau police officers.

Antwan Silky Wooden, 21, was arrested without incident around 5 p.m. at 256 S. Benton St., Apt. 2, according to Cape Girardeau police spokesman Sgt. Barry Hovis.

Wooden was wanted on Jackson County warrants for second-degree murder, kidnapping and armed criminal action, as well as a federal warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Wooden fled Kansas City after a botched kidnapping attempt of a member of his gang April 14, according to Kansas City police spokesman Capt. Rich Lockheart. Wooden's brother, Keith, 24, was shot and killed by the kidnapping victim after the victim freed himself from his duct tape bonds.

Although Antwan Wooden did not fire the round that killed his brother, he is charged with his murder. Peter Krusing, spokesman for the St. Louis FBI field office, said second-degree murder charges can be filed against anyone involved in a criminal activity, such as a kidnapping, that leads to a death.

Krusing said the FBI followed leads from the Kansas City field office to the apartment on Benton Street. Krusing declined to comment on Wooden's ties to the area or his motive for fleeing here.

Wooden is being held in the Cape Girardeau County Jail awaiting transfer to Kansas City for his initial court appearance.

Two others accused in the kidnapping, Marlyn L. Standfer, 18, and Robertico Cooper, 19, are in custody and face the same charges as Wooden.
