Oct. 11, 1957 Southeast Missourian. The judges will have a job. One of these lovelies will be chosen Varsity queen at State College. From the left they are Lee Gretzschel, Mehlville; Barbara Lovely, Ferguson; Jan Stratmann, Florissant; Carolyn Uhlemeyer, St. Louis, and Glenna Priday, Fredericktown. Shirley and Ken Ruff provided IDs for the men serving up flatcakes at a Jackson Lions Club Pancake Day: "The photo in Sunday's paper of a pancake dinner is in fact a picture taken at the Jackson Rotary Pancake Day. We can identify the following in the photo, left to right: Melvine Lichtenegger, Charles Sander, Dr. Ruff, unknown, Paul Brunning, Bill La Monte, Carlton Meyer, unknown, Carson Wagner. We think this was taken in the late '40's." Mary Ann Haynes had more information: "Jackson Lions Club... On left: Melvin Lichtenegger... To the left of Carlton Meyer is Paul Bruening (Bruening Dry Good Store). Behind and between Mr. Meyer and Mr Bruening is William Lamont (RII school superintendent). Think the person all the way on the right of photo is Elmo Martin (Martin Jewelry Store). Cannot identify the other Jacksonians. Not sure about the spelling of the last names..."

Dec. 13, 1954 Southeast Missourian. Safe-Driving Awards to Cape Transit Operators. Eight drivers of the Cape Transit Corp., have received awards for driving during the year, manager Eddie Mitchell announced today. Shown in the picture are, from left: manager Eddie Mitchell, Roy Brunkhorst, George Strange, Murrell Strange, Lee Hartle, Willis Pind, S.V. Estes, Milford Crites, William Webb, Don Fadler, Harrold Green, Harley Langston and Don Anderson. Those receiving awards, the number of years they have driven without an accident and the miles they have driven, are: Harrold Green, 9 years, 252,720 miles; Walter Hinck, 8 years, 224,640 miles; Milford Crites, 5 years, 140,400 miles; Louis Thomas, 4 years, 12,320 miles; Don Anderson, 2 years, 56,160 miles; Don Fadler, Willis Pind, and Lee Hartle, 1 year, 28,080 miles. Another driver, S.V. Estes holds a 7 year pin and has driven 196,560 miles.
