ST. LOUIS -- An off-duty St. Louis police officer is recovering after being shot.

Police say the 25-year-old officer was with another off-duty officer and a third man when the shooting happened at 3:50 a.m. Sunday. The officer was shot in the calf and was treated at a hospital and released. The other two men were not hurt.

Police say the three men were traveling when unknown persons fired several shots into the vehicle. The officers did not return fire.

Police are searching for a 1995 to 1999 BMW, perhaps an M3 coupe.
