With Father's Day right around the corner The Southeast Missourian asked children what made their father special.

Lance Brumbaugh said, "My dad is very special because if I want something he will always get it for me. Also he is always nice and tries to help me learn to play baseball. Sometimes when I throw the ball wrong or strike out he will always helps me get better.

Katie Mack said, "My dad is real nice and that is special enough. But he also takes me fishing. He also plays basketball and baseball with me when I want him to. He really enjoys spending time with me. For Father's Day I will probably get him something and not bother him."

Justin Rice said, "My dad is a truck driver. He's real nice and takes me fishing and in the summer he takes me to the swimming pool. I really like it when we play pitch and catch in our backyard. I'll let him choose what he wants me to do for him next weekend on Father's Day."

Toni Pruitt said, "He is always making me laugh by tickling me and playing with me. He's real nice and we go fishing a lot and one day we caught a whole lot of fish and that was really fun. I will probably make him something for Father's Day, or buy him a present."

Chris Vaugh said, "My dad is very special because of a lot of reasons. He takes extra time to help me out when I need him to and he takes time off from work if he needs to help us. Next weekend for Father's Day we are going to buy him a boat."

Dawn Vancil said, "My father is real nice, especially when he doesn't spank me even when I deserve it. I'm going to buy him some baseball cards that he really wants for Father's Day and he's going to save all of his baseball cards for me and I can keep collecting them too."
