The Southeast Missourian asked people what they think of the bombing of Iraq's intelligence facilities June 27.

Colleen Nolan, Cape Girardeau: "They need to handle it, but this was a little drastic. They should go after Saddam Hussein instead of killing innocent people. That's what I think."

Herbert Hodges, Cairo, Ill.: "I don't think we should ever bomb another country. Just bombing on hear-say hurts innocent people. They're not responsible for what their leader does. I don't see why we need to jump on every little country we can whip."

Jean Wibbenmeyer, Cape Girardeau: "We didn't drop enough. I think there's a problem with Iraq and something serious needs to be done; something done with Saddam. We don't have all the facts. We leave it up to the president to make those decisions. Hope he makes the right ones."

Bob Longwell, Cape Girardeau: "It needed to be done. The timing was a little slow. Unfortunately there were civilian casualties. These things occur in military actions. I don't think the desired effect was accomplished. It slowed Saddam down; it needs to hit him closer to home."

Terry Cooper, Doniphan: "I like the idea of it. Our president needed to make sure before they struck. It would be more settled if Saddam was out of there. It would be nice to remove someone from office without killing them."

Mark Morefield, Murphysboro, Ill.: "You can't let them get away with anything like that. Just get rid of Saddam. They should just snipe him. With bombing there are always casualties; sniping you pick off the main target and get out."
