Wente re-elected to state hospital board

Southeast Missouri Hospital administrator James W. Wente has been re-elected as an at-large member with the Missouri Hospital Association Board of Trustees. He will serve as a board member until Dec. 31, 2005.

Wente was first elected to the MHA Board of Trustees in 1994 as a representative of District 6. He has served as board secretary, a member of the executive committee, chairman-elect and, from 1997 to 1999, as chairman of the statewide body. He has served on a number of MHA committees, including the Bylaws Committee, the Nominating Committee, Finance and Budget Committee and the Energy and Environment Committee.

In addition, he was the MHA representative to the Medical Practice Research Center Ad Hoc Committee and also has served on the MHA Management Services Corporation Board of Directors.

Wente is a diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, and an advanced member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Accountant attends federal taxation class

David M. Plassman, a CPA with Schott & Van de Ven, recently completed the current developments in federal taxation class in St. Louis. The class covered federal tax developments in the last 18 months and focused on key tax issues in the Internal Revenue Code.

Plassman is experienced in tax return preparation for individuals, corporations and partnerships. He a member of the Illinois CPA Society and Jackson Rotary Club.

Investment rep honored by firm

Donna J. Domian, the Cape Girardeau investment representative for Edward Jones, was recently honored by the firm for her job performance. This recognition earned Domian an invitation to Edward Jones' annual managing partners conference at the firm's headquarters in St. Louis.

The three-day meeting pooled Edward Jones' most successful representatives for a discussion with John Bachmann, the firm's managing partner, on issues facing the firm and the financial-services industry as a whole.

Holder joins staff of Elite Travel Inc.

Sherry Holder recently joined the staff of Elite Travel Inc. and Cruises. Holder has more than 14 years of experience in the travel industry, specializing in both corporate and leisure reservations.

Holder, a former Southeast Missouri State University student and Troy State University graduate, moved from Texas to Scott City with her husband and daughter.

Jackson couple joins angus association

Rick and Renee Aufdenberg of Jackson are new members of the American Angus Association. The association has more than 36,000 active adult and junior members and is the largest beef cattle registry in the world. Its computerized records included detailed information on more than 14 million registered angus.

Business owners attend apparel group meeting

Walter and Gerri Stone, owners of Professional Fashion Uniforms at the Town Plaza, attended the Fall Fashion Showcase of the Professional Apparel Association in St. Louis.

The national conference brings together retail shop owners, manufacturers and company owners to exchange ideas and see new products. The Stones attended management study sessions which included presentations on merchandising, cash flow and customer service.

Employee Victoria Stone attended a session for an overview on computer program which is used by many retailers in the uniform industry. Employee Jean Ann Rice also attended a session on design and visual merchandising for decorating retail shops.

Two graduate from state police corps

Tye DeCramer of Cape Girardeau and Jimmy Wolsey of Chaffee, Mo., were among 14 police cadets that recently graduated from the Missouri Police Corps. Missouri is one of 22 states and territories that recruit and train college graduates to serve four years as community police officers through a program funded by the Department of Justice.

Employees attend cosmetics seminar

Three employees of two businesses recently attended the International Cosmetics, Esthetics and Spa conference in Orlando, Fla. The employees are Christy Palen, a licensed cosmetologist at Hair Force; Wendy Nenninger, a licensed massage therapist at Mother's Blessing; and Karen Oliver, a licensed esthetician, also of Mother's Blessing.

They attended workshops and seminars for the latest trends and technology in hair products, spa services, body treatment and skin care.
