A Perryville, Missouri, man made two attempts of armed robbery the same night and was arrested the next morning, police reported.

Danny Rue Sr., 51, of Perryville was arrested by Perryville police about 8 a.m. Wednesday and was charged with 11 counts, including attempted robbery, kidnapping, burglary, third-degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. His bond is set at $50,000, cash only.

According to a report by Perryville Police Cpl. Jeri Cain, Rue approached a man about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on Grand Avenue, stopped him at gunpoint, told him to get in Rue's pickup and demanded $200.

When the man did not have money to pay, Rue called another man to try to get the money. When that was unsuccessful, Rue dropped off the victim and struck him in the back of the head with the butt of the pistol, Cain said.

About 10:30 p.m., Rue went to the home of second man, on South Spring Street, Cain wrote in the report. Rue held that man at gunpoint until a struggle ensued and the pistol went into the man's home, where police eventually recovered the weapon.

During the struggle, Rue tried to put an unknown object in the victim's mouth, possibly to gag him, Cain reported, before he ran away through a sliding-glass door. Rue left behind his vehicle, which police later identified, Cain said.
