Cape Girardeau firefighters at Fire Station No. 1 salute the funeral procession from St. Mary's Cathedral for retired battalion chief Steve Niswonger on Wednesday, April 24, 2103 in Cape Girardeau. Niswonger retired in 2010 after serving 32 years with the city of Cape Girardeau. He began as a patrol officer with the police department in 1978 and transferred to the fire department in 1980.
