The Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Southeast Missouri State University has been granted candidate for accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Candidate for accreditation is a status of application with CAPTE, which indicates the program is progressing toward accreditation and allows students to be admitted to the program.
Sixteen students from Southeast Missouri were accepted into the program last fall. The application process for the second class of students is under way, with application deadline April 15.
The PTA program at Southeast is a cooperative effort with Three Rivers Community College at Poplar Bluff and Mineral Area College at Flat River. General studies courses can be taken on each of these campuses and at least one of the courses can be taken at both colleges via interactive TV. All three courses are available at the Southeast Missouri State campus.
Two informational sessions left, March 9 and March 28. An informational session is needed to attend other PTA courses.
