The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's office is searching for a suspect in connection with a Friday robbery at Amerimart in Old Appleton. According to Lt. David James, the robbery occurred at about 1:20 p.m. Sheriff's deputies arrived at the business and learned a male suspect had brandished a handgun during the robbery and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's office is searching for a suspect in connection with a Friday robbery at Amerimart in Old Appleton.

According to Lt. David James, the robbery occurred at about 1:20 p.m. Sheriff's deputies arrived at the business and learned a male suspect had brandished a handgun during the robbery and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect was wearing a hoodie and blue jeans, James said.

A news release sent Friday by the department also stated the suspect was reported by the store clerk to have a medium build and stood between 5'10" and 6 feet tall. His facial features were hidden from view with an article of clothing.

James said deputies searched the immediate area after the robbery, but the suspect remains at large as of Friday afternoon. There were no injuries in relation to the robbery, James said.
