MINER, Mo. - A Poplar Bluff, Mo., woman sustained serious injuries after she lost control and struck another vehicle Thursday morning northbound on Interstate 55. MINER, Mo. - A Poplar Bluff, Mo., woman sustained serious injuries after she lost control and struck another vehicle Thursday morning northbound on Interstate 55.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that around 9:05 a.m. a 2003 Ford driven by Julie E. Ward, 49, of Poplar Bluff was passing a 2006 Honda driven by Mary K. Roth, 66, of Mountain View, Mo. The Ford then lost control and struck the Honda near mile marker 71 before it came to a rest in the median.

Ward was transported by air evac to Saint Francis Medical Center, where she was treated for serious injuries. The occupant in the car, Misty A. Logston, 30, of Poplar Bluff, was transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.

Roth suffered minor injuries.

All three people involved in the accident were wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash, the highway patrol said.
