Sikeston man sentenced for crack cocaine charge

A Sikeston, Mo., man was sentenced Monday in federal court in Cape Girardeau for possession of cocaine base with intent to distribute.

Dennis Lee Andrews, 30, was sentenced to 60 months on one count. He appeared before U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber.

On April 2, Sikeston officer Franklin Adams was patroling the 1500 block of Osage when he saw Andrews engaged in an illegal dice game. When Andrews fled, the officer took him down with an electric taser. The defendant was trying to get rid of a packet of 5.2 grams of crack cocaine in his pocket at the time. He later admitted he purchased the drug and was going to sell it. His arrest took place within the federally targeted Weed and Seed area in Sikeston.

Caruthersville man pleads guilty to crack charge

Scott Fields, 34, of Caruthers-ville, Mo., pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to distribution of cocaine base, or crack. He appeared before U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber in Cape Girardeau.

Fields faces from five to 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine. Sentencing was set for Jan. 26.

He admitted that on Dec. 7, he sold a quarter ounce of crack to an undercover officer for $240.

Mississippi County woman gives meth plea

McLinda Diane Bub, 44, of Mississippi County, pleaded guilty Monday to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. She appeared before U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber in Cape Girardeau.

Bub faces up to 40 years in prison, a $2 million fine and at least four years of supervised release. Sentencing was set for Jan. 26. With her plea, she admitted that on March 26 officers found five plastic baggies containing 30.93 grams of a substance containing 8.32 pure grams of meth at her home in Wolf Island, Mo.

Sikeston man sentenced to 12 years for cocaine

Wayne J. Sumlin, 44, of Sikeston, was sentenced Monday in federal court to 144 months in prison for distributing cocaine base.

On March 28, 2002, and April 2, 2002, Sumlin sold more than 5 grams of cocaine base to an informant for the Sikeston De-partment of Public Safety. Both sales took place inside the city's federally targeted Weed and Seed area.

In determining Sumlin's sentence, the court found he was responsible for selling more than 500 grams of crack cocaine in the Sikeston area.
