Author to be guest on KRCU show today
Dr. Joel Rhodes, author of "The Voice of Violence: Performative Violence as Protest in the Vietnam Era," will be the featured guest today on KRCU's "Going Public" radio show. Rhodes will be interviewed about his book, the 1968 Kansas City riot and student protests.
The public affairs show will air at 3 p.m. 90.9 FM.
Cape council to hold road study session
State-maintained roads will be the focus when the Cape Girardeau City Council holds a study session Monday night.
The council will meet with Missouri Department of Transportation district engineer Scott Meyer at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
MoDOT and city officials said the meeting is just an informational session concerning state roads in the Cape Girardeau area and there's no formal agenda.
City manager Michael Miller said plans for the Fountain Street exit off the new Mississippi River bridge route likely will be one of the projects discussed at the meeting.
Illinois man thrown from motorcycle Saturday
A Belleville, Ill., man was injured when he was thrown from a motorcycle on loose gravel Saturday in Cape Girardeau County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
John Campbell, 65, was taken to St. Francis Medical Center, where he was reported in stable condition on Saturday afternoon.
The accident occurred at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Route C and Route CC, 4 miles north of Pocahontas.
St. Louis couple claims half of Powerball jackpot
ST. LOUIS -- A St. Louis couple has claimed half of a $42 million Powerball jackpot, Missouri Lottery officials said.
Milton and Ethel Schroeder will share half of the Feb. 22 jackpot with a ticket holder in Louisiana. Each can choose between approximately $21 million, paid in 30 annual installments, or a lump-sum payment of $11.3 million before taxes.
