Reitzel, 45, is a self-employed farmer in Whitewater and said he enjoys being an active committeeman and strives to make sure people are educated on the candidates and issues.

Blattel, 38, is a high school teacher. He said he is running for the position because as a father, he worries about the future of American liberty for his children.

In 2013, precinct committee members in the 8th District were tasked with nominating a candidate to run in the special election to fill former U.S. representative Jo Ann Emerson's seat in Congress.

Political party committees are established by state law, including specifics such as when the committees will meet and that each committee must name a man and a woman to the chair and vice chair positions.
