Cape Christian School will hold a Renaissance Fair Saturday featuring games, a jousting activity, archery, crafts, music and dancing.

Seventh- and eighth-grade history students at the school will dress up in costumes along with some adults, history teacher Rhonda Young said.

The fair will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at Kiwanis Park. Admission is free, but some booths will sell items for a small charge.

"We will have a money changer," she said. Tokens will cost a quarter and those tokens then can be used to purchase items at the various booths.

"The main thing is to have people come out and have a good time," Young said. "I guess it is just like a big costume party for everybody."

The fair will include a display of swords and a group that will put on a sword-fighting exhibition.

"We will have strolling minstrels," Young said. "We will have a medieval beauty shop where people can get their hair braided and flowers put in their hair," she said.

A Touch of Grace restaurant also will have a concession stand at the fair, she said.

Money raised will go to help pay the cost of taking Cape Christian School students to the madrigal feast at Cape Girardeau Central High School later this year, Young said.
