ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The Missouri Department of Transportation is canceling the closure of the westbound Daniel Boone Bridge that had been planned for this weekend.

The bridge links St. Louis County and St. Charles County on Interstate 64.

MoDOT spokesman Jack Wang says forecasts are calling for inclement weather that would make it difficult for workers to do repairs this weekend.

The plan now is to close the bridge for work in late January, if weather allows.

In August, after the I-35 bridge collapsed in Minnesota, checks of Missouri bridges revealed the need to do maintenance work on the Boone Bridge.
