The new, 50,000-square-foot Franklin Elementary School will be the site of a ribbon-cutting Friday that will mark the official opening of the new facility.

The new school, built over the last two years with $10 million from taxpayer-approved bonds, was the costliest project among $40 million worth of districtwide improvements. Franklin was identified by the district as needing the most renovations, and the old Franklin building, built in 1927, has been demolished.

The ribbon-cutting at the new school will be at 9 a.m., and visitor parking will be available in the drive-through in front of the new school.
