Horseback trail riding has become available at Rocky Holler U.S.A. north of Cape Girardeau.

"We have had many requests for horseback riding since we opened back in April," said spokesman Molly Zielinski. "So we decided to offer this to residents and visitors of the area."

Rocky Holler is starting the process by offering evening rides. "We can accommodate two people at a time now," she said. "We will be adding more horses soon. The riding is available from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. now, and we will expand to day and evening rides next year."

The rides last one hour and cover different parts of the property, going through open land, woods and a creek. A guide leads the ride.

Reservations are needed and can be made by calling 243-6440 day or evening. The rides will be conducted throughout the year.

The facility is in Cape Girardeau County. Visitors exit Interstate 55 five miles north of Cape Girardeau, follow Highway 61 south and turn left on County Road 303, the first road off the highway.

Rocky Holler U.S.A. has a number of attractions for visitors. It has lakes and ponds for fishing (no license required); arts, crafts and antiques housed in a large barn; pony rides; mule-powered wagon rides; and a petting zoo with several young animals. Other attractions are being added.

It will have haunted hay rides in October and is booking hayrides for private parties.

"We provide entertainment and fun activities for individuals, families and groups in a Western atmosphere," Zielinski said. It is open daily 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. except Tuesdays and Wednesdays and remains open year-round.
