A Scott City man is in custody after allegedly resisting arrest and being Tasered.
Marcus Allen Bowers, 25, was charged with second-degree domestic assault, resisting or interfering with arrest and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from the Scott County Sheriff's Office.
At 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, Cpl. Larry Rutherford of the sheriff's office went to Scott County Highway 333 for a reported domestic assault, according to the release.
Upon his arrival, Rutherford saw the alleged victim, a 23-year-old woman, had a bloodshot and swollen left eye, according to police. Rutherford also said he saw both of Bowers' hands bloody with lacerations on his knuckles.
During the investigation, Bowers attempted to flee by walking away, according to the release. Rutherford attempted to stop Bowers, who resisted and was subdued with a Taser by the deputy, according to the release. Bowers was arrested in connection with the assault, and a search of him resulted in the discovery of two pipes with residue that tested positive for marijuana, according to police.
Online court records show that Bowers has prior offenses.
