Scott County bank robbed; teller kept at gunpoint

MORLEY, Mo. -- First Commercial Bank, the only bank in Morley, was robbed Thursday morning when two men forced their way inside as a teller attempted to open the lobby.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said no one was injured during the heist. He said the FBI and the highway patrol are assisting with the investigation.

Walter said authorities were working with bank executives; the bank was closed as of noon.

Two male suspects armed with a handgun forced their way into the bank about 8 a.m. as an employee unlocked the doors. They held her at gunpoint during the robbery, according to a news release sent by the sheriff's office Thursday afternoon. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash.

Investigators said in the release they believe the suspects fled on foot and possibly were picked up by a third accomplice driving an unknown vehicle. The direction of travel was unknown.

Surveillance photos of the two suspects also were released and show two men inside the bank wearing hooded jackets with their faces covered.

The sheriff's office is asking that anyone in the area of the bank at the time of the robbery call its office at 573-545-3525 or the FBI at 573-335-2511. The bank is at 23134 U.S. Highway 61 in Morley.
