The Cape Girardeau Police Department will implement special traffic arrangements for the 2002 SEMO District Fair to assure the smooth and safe flow of vehicles entering and exiting the Arena Park area.

"No Parking" signs were placed around the Arena Park area on Friday to restrict parking. The signs will be enforced today at 10 a.m. Any vehicles parked in the area will be towed away at the owner's expense and a ticket will be issued.

Additionally, on Wednesday, the signs will be placed in Capaha Park, at North West End Boulevard, and Perry Avenue at 7 a.m. to restrict parking for the parade, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. Capaha Park will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. and only vehicles actually used in the parade will be allowed inside.

If anyone wishes to deliver parade participants, they can be dropped off at the intersection of West End and Normal at the park entrance.

West End will be closed at 4 p.m. to allow the parade to form. Broadway, west of West End, and Kingshighway, between Broadway and Cape Rock Drive, will be closed during the parade. Broadview Street will be closed from Spartech Drive north to the entrance to Arena Park during the parade and for a short time afterward. Southbound traffic on Kingshighway will be detoured west on Hopper. Broadview Street from Independence north to Spartech Drive should be avoided during and after the parade if at all possible.
