Southeast Missouri State University has hired a Kentucky college administrator to head up enrollment management.

The Board of Regents, meeting in closed session Monday afternoon, approved the appointment of Dr. Robert Parrent.

Parrent actually has been working in his new position since Aug. 18. He will make a salary of $80,000.

Parrent previously was vice president for student affairs and enrollment services at Midway (Ky.) College.

In his new job, Parrent will help boost Southeast's enrollment.

Parrent will be responsible for supervision of the offices of admissions, financial aid, registrar, new-student programs, pre-collegiate programs and minority student recruitment. He will report to Dr. SueAnn Strom, vice president for student affairs.

Dr. Dale Nitzschke, Southeast's president, said: "Enrollment management is a key component of the university's strategic plan and central to its success. We are pleased to have Dr. Parrent join us as we go forward in this critical area."

Parrent has a doctorate in higher-education administration from Indiana University, and a master's degree in college student personnel administration and a bachelor's degree in history from Western Kentucky University.
