JACKSON -- All five incumbents and two other candidates filed for five seats opening on the Jackson Board of Aldermen.

Ward I Aldermen David Ludwig, Ward II Aldermen David Reiminger, Ward III Alderman Glenn Oldham and Ward IV Alderman Fred Leimer all announced their candidacies for re-election Tuesday, filing soon after City Hall opened.

Ward II Alderman Kerry Hoffman, appointed to the seat vacated by Kevin Sawyer's resignation, said he would like to be re-elected and complete the year left on Sawyer's unexpired term.

Larry Cunningham, who owns a Jackson appraisal service, filed in Ward I. Cunningham currently serves on the city's Planning and Zoning Board.

John Powers filed in Ward IV. An Oak Hill Road resident, he became a fixture at Board of Aldermen meetings as the board was deciding how much financial participation to have in Oak Hill Road improvements.

The deadline to file for any of the positions is 5 p.m. Jan. 30.

A. Authorized Park Department to advertise for bids on a new tractor.

B. Authorized partial payment of $22,047.30 to Caldwell Tanks Inc. on elevated water tank project.

C. Added issue to the April 2 election ballot. Voters will decide if the mayor and Board of Aldermen should appoint a city collector.

D. Approve final plat of Bent Creek on the Green Condominium Plat 6.

E. Accepted the portion of Morgan Street in the Parkwood Place Subdivision as a public street and accepted the water and sewer system serving those lots in the subdivision.

F. Authorized the mayor to sign depository agreements with Union Planters Bank, Boatmen's Bank and Commerce Bank.

G. Accepted the engineer's report on the Oak Hill Road improvement project.

H. Passed an ordinance to levy a special assessment for the improvement of Oak Hill Road and authorized the issuance of tax bills.
