POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- A convicted sex offender accused of cutting off his ankle monitor during a doctor's appointment in Poplar Bluff has been captured in St. Louis County.
Online court records show 55-year-old John Squires was charged Friday with violating a condition of lifetime supervision and first-degree property damage. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.
KMOV-TV reported Squires is accused of fleeing from probation supervision Wednesday. Police captured him Friday night at a home.
Squires pleaded guilty in July to first-degree statutory sodomy and attempted first-degree statutory sodomy in Christian County. Online court records show he was sentenced to two 10-year sentences in the Missouri Department of Corrections. But the court suspended the execution of Squires' sentences and placed him on five years of supervised probation.
