SHAWNEE STUDENT AWARDED IN ESSAY CONTEST
Kim Pennington, daughter of Steven and Patsy Pennington, was recently recognized as the overall winner for the ninth grade in a state-wide essay competition. The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW in Illinois sponsored the essay competition. Over 30 schools participated, and Pennington won first place locally and state-wide for her essay, "How I can help make America better."...

Kim Pennington, daughter of Steven and Patsy Pennington, was recently recognized as the overall winner for the ninth grade in a state-wide essay competition.

The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW in Illinois sponsored the essay competition. Over 30 schools participated, and Pennington won first place locally and state-wide for her essay, "How I can help make America better."

Pennington will be in the tenth grade at Shawnee High School in the fall.
