A Sikeston, Missouri, man is in custody on burglary, tampering and drug charges after he was allegedly forced his way into a home and was confronted by its owner. Kaiden E. A Sikeston, Missouri, man is in custody on burglary, tampering and drug charges after he was allegedly forced his way into a home and was confronted by its owner.

Kaiden E. Lambert of Sikeston, 20, has been charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, stealing, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, according to a news release from the Scott County Sheriff's Office.

Corp. Justin Wooten of the Sheriff's Office responded to a Sikeston-area home for a reported burglary in progress Friday at 5:29 a.m., according to the release.

The homeowner had Lambert at gunpoint in a bathroom, according to police. A vehicle known to be driven by Lambert was in the driveway.

Wooten was met by a family member, who told him Lambert was handcuffed and lying in the hallway of the foyer, according to police.

Wooten searched Lambert and took him to his patrol unit, according to the release. An item inside Lambert's vehicle was identified by the homeowner as stolen, according to police.

A subsequent search of Lambert's vehicle resulted in recovering stolen merchandise, in addition to presumed marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to police.

The homeowner said he woke up from a noise coming from the first floor of the home, according to the release. He went to investigate and found an open door at the rear, according to the release. He retrieved a pistol and continued searching his home, according to the release.

According to police, the homeowner found Lambert hiding in a bathroom on the main floor. He ordered Lambert to the floor and, with the help of another family member, retrieved a set of handcuffs and placed them on Lambert's wrists, according to police.

Investigation revealed Lambert had spray painted "FU" with gold paint on the side of a blue Ford Taurus at the residence, according to police.

Lambert later admitted to forcing his way into the home and stealing merchandise from it, according to the release. He was transported to the Scott County Jail pending the filing of charges, according to the release.

Lambert was in custody at the Scott County Jail as of Friday afternoon. Bond had been set at $5,000 cash only.
